Specialty T’s

July 24, 2015

When it comes to putting specialty products into production, most function well for the majority of decorative applications. However, if you want to know, ask the vendor or manufacturer how a particular fabric will handle a particular method, such as screen printing, digital printing, embroidery, etc.

For example, some lightweight, some even see through, flowy designs don’t work well with embroidery, but may be suitable for sublimation or silk screening. Likewise, most 100 percent cotton tees are compatible with screen printing because they offer a tight, smooth surface. Sometimes with the cotton blends, the fabric may scorch from the heating temperature so you must be careful.

Still unsure whether the specialty business if for your business or not? Only you can decide. Take a good look at your customer base and prospective customers and let their needs guide you. There is no sense in stocking inventory or developing new processes if your customers do not order the specialty type t-shirts. The most important thing for your to know is your customer. Knowledge of their buying behavior and what they like and don’t like will provide the best gauge for what unique styles work best for your business.
